From Airport to Cruise: When Every Minute Counts for Thousands of Meals

A cruise ship in port, fresh fish just arrived at the airport, and the clock is ticking. This is how we coordinate a precision perishable operation with 0 incidents.

The Challenge: 4 Hours to Supply a Cruise Ship

When a luxury cruise ship with 3,200 passengers docks at the Port of Barcelona, the clock starts ticking. The catering services need to restock with high-quality fresh products before the next stop. The margin for error is zero.

The Operation

On this occasion, we coordinated the arrival of 2,400 kg of fresh fish from the Faroe Islands via air to El Prat Airport. The challenge: express customs clearance, maintaining the cold chain at all times, and refrigerated transport to the dock in under 3 hours.

The Logistics of Precision

Our team coordinated in parallel: flight tracking, health and import documentation, refrigerated vehicle at the ramp, and access to the port area. Each step calculated to the minute.

The Result

Zero incidents. Temperature maintained between 0°C and 4°C at all times. The fish on board 45 minutes before departure time. A precision operation that perfectly summarizes what we do at a3 Logistic every day.
